BIO

The now New York based, singer, composer and arranger Marcella Camargo has been present in the musical scene since she was 14 years old. Born an American but a Brazilian by heart, she deeply cherishes both countries and feels that both the USA and Brazil have influenced her as a musician.

 

Her recent work consists of participating as a featured artist and lead vocal on John Finbury’s album “Imaginário”, which has been nominated  ‘Song of the Year’ for the 2016 Latin Grammy, with the track “A Chama Verde”.

 

She is also featured as lead vocal for the album “Sem Tradução” by Fernando Brandão, works as a recording artist for Hawthplay Records and performs live as a background singer for New York artists Pam Steebler and Leah Rich.

 

A '12 alumna from Berklee College of Music, as a World Scholarship awarded student, she was hand picked to perform and work with international artists such as singer songwriter Paul Simon (at his workshop at BPC); singer Nona Hendryx (Master Class); Brazilian singer songwriter Ivan Lins (Oscar Stagnaro and Matt Nicholl Signature Series '11 performance at BPC); Nicaraguan singer Luis Enrique, the "Prince of Salsa" (Oscar Stagnaro and Matt Nicholl Signature Series '12 performance at BPC); Spanish Flamenco guitarist Javier Limón (Masterclass and performance at Berklee's Middle Eastern Festival '12); Brazilian singer songwriter Filó Machado (Berklee Residency); Berklee faculty and former Whitney Houston pianist Jetro da Silva; Brazilian singer songwriter Marcos Valle (performance at BPC).

 

While living in Boston (September '09 - August '14) she worked as a wedding singer for the bands "Pulse of Boston" and "Superband", and also performed for numerous venues and other events, including Cafe 939, Mandarin Hotel, The Beehive, Church Bar, Ryles Jazz Club, Isabella Gardner Museum, Odyssey Cruises, Beat Hotel, Avenue One Restaurant, Taste of the Back Bay '11 & '12 (Skywalk Prudential), the Boston Teachers Union Gala Dinner, as well as a 2 year artist residency for Mooo Restaurant at the XV Beacon Hotel.
